Challenging Chess Art

zwickmuhle_webOn October 8th DGT opened their 4th art exposition in the offices at Hengelosestraat 66 in Enschede, The Netherlands. DGT together with Schaakkunst present the paintings and objects from sixteen artists.The styles of the artists are diverse: from photographic precisely painted to impressionistic use of paint. But the theme remains the same. All artists are inspired by the game of chess.

The exposition is open  to the public from the 9th of october 2008 trough January 9th,  2009 during office hours. If a painting likes you or you like the painting, it is for sale! The prices vary between € 250,- and € 10.000,-

The exhibition was offcially opened by mr. Eddy Schuyer, chairman of the Dutch Chess federation and a former senator of the Dutch Parliament. Mr Schuyer is the author of a book on Chess in the history of art and culture.

From the private collection of Aad van den Bosch we show you the oldest chess clock in the world. The antique chess clock from the 19th century is produced by Fattorini. Probably the first chess clock introduced to the London International Tournament in 1883 that was won by Zukertort. As far as is kwown this is the only remaining clock.
